Behavior Imaging
(back
to FAQs)
Behavior Imaging™, sometimes referred to as a ‘B.I’, points to
the use of a special imaging technique to capture and review
behavioral events as an improved means to assess, analyze,
document and/or monitor behavior. This imaging technique
produces an electronic video image of targeted episodes of
behavior, and can be done in both clinical or natural settings.
This behavior image can be used to further
characterize recognized aspects of behavior to assist in
diagnosis, treatment and research and is meant to allow
subsequent review or monitoring by a qualified clinician who is
certified to treat behavior.
Specific requirements for a behavior image include:
- Optimally targets a relevant time giving enough context
for effective clinical review. This includes what happens
before, during and after a behavior occurs.
- When used in health treatment, handling of behavior image
should comply with HIPAA technical and policy compliance
guidelines. When used in educational intervention, behavior
images should comply with FERPA guidelines.
- Clinician review and annotation should be documented in
accordance with HIPAA guidelines for Clinician accountability.
Other capabilities could include the ability to mark where
and when a behavior occurs along the video timeline.
Applications researched:
- Functional Behavior Assessment (link).
- Medication Monitoring (link).
- (to come) Psychiatric treatment.
